Have you ever heard of oil pulling? It sounds bizarre. You take a chunk of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 15-20 minutes and then spit it out. I told you it was strange! So...Why would any sane person do this?

Benefits to Oil Pulling (according to real experts - aka - an internet search):
* Better overall health
* Fewer illnesses
* Dental health benefits
* Blah, blah, blah...I got bored reading about the benefits.
My Results:
It's best to do the oil pulling in the morning (according to my research). My problem is that I have a huge gag reflex in the morning. I can't do oil pulling for 15-20 minutes. Instead, I swished the oil around for about 5 minutes. I know it's nowhere near the "right" amount of time, but I figure some time is better than nothing.
I'm not sure about the overall health piece, since I do not get sick very often. In the past month, I didn't get sick at all. However, the dental health benefits were noticeable! I already floss twice a day, use mouthwash, and brush a minimum of twice a day. While I already have great dental health habits, I noticed a small amount of tarter build up on my lower front teeth. Oil pulling the short amount of time everyday has made that tarter virtually disappear. The results have amazed me!
Recommendation:
Oil pulling is definitely worth the effort. It's hard to get used to in the beginning, but you will adjust soon enough. I found 5 minutes is all I need to see effort. For others, more time may be needed. I would definitely recommend oil pulling to you.
Below is the coconut oil I used if you are interested.
