Podcast Tips and Recommendations

Adulting With Beth

I have mentioned my love of podcasts in the past. This summer, I am listening to even more than usual. I am able to do this for a couple of reasons. First of all, I have more free time. I like to have something going on the background. A podcast works well for this purpose. The second reason is my first podcast tip.

Podcast Tip 1

While I enjoy listening to many podcasts, I sometimes get frustrated by how slowly some people speak. I tend to move quickly and need my podcasts to reflect this. When listening to a podcast, you can adjust the speed. I thought that doing this may make the people sound like Alvin (from the Chipmunks), but that is so not the case! Now, some podcasts are listened to at regular speed 1.0. Some, though, I have had to increase all the way up to a speed of 1.6. I adjust each group of podcasts to their own sound speed. I love this because I have some podcasts that are an hour long. While I like them, they move too slowly. Now I can listen to that hour long podcast in 40 minutes.

Podcast Tip 2

Subscribe to your favorite podcast. This way everytime a new episode is released, it will download for you. I love seeing the new ones that download each day!

Recommendations

I recommended different podcasts in the past. Click HERE to see that post. Here are a few more:

Organize 365 - This one is all about getting organized! Each episode focuses on a different area in the house as well as giving productivity and time management tips. I always love to find better ways of organizing myself!

Affirmations Pod - This podast has some affirmations that can be used in mediation, said by themselves, as well as tips for mental well-being.

Walking for a Cause

Adulting With Beth

I am so excited that the weather has warmed up enough for me to take lots of long walks. I find them refreshing. During my walks, I listen to podcasts, take pictures of sights that appeal to me (I love the trees when they are covered with flowers - see below), and spend time thinking.

One of the benefits of my walk is done through an app I use called Charity Miles. This is a free app for users. When you walk, run, or ride your bike, you let it run in the background. It tracks your mileage and the sponsor of your walk (usually a big name like Johnson and Johnson) donates to the charity of your choice. They have a bunch to choose from. My current favorite in Pencils of Promise. I feel even better when I walk because even though it is a small way, I am helping others.

I used to spend a lot of time and effort with various charities until life happened. Now I don't get to volunteer like I would like, but this feels like I am still making a difference.

Podcasts - Personal Development, The Easy Way

Adulting With Beth

I am obsessed with podcasts! These are my go to when I get tired of listening to the radio, and I do not want complete silence. Here are some of my favorite podcasts!

By the Book - While the ladies in this podcast follow a self-help book for two weeks and report on it, this is not a self-help podcast. This is more of a hilarious book review. I laugh out loud in each episode. I know that I look like a crazy person when I go for a walk and listen to this one since I am always laughing. I accept that. It's worth it.

Side Hustle School - This is a daily podcast that teaches listeners lessons in starting their own side hustle (work outside your normal job). I find this podcast to be motivating to me to try my own business. Right now, my main side hustle is creating teacher resources for the classroom. This podcast is always helping me think of new things I can try.

Happier with Gretchen Rubin - I enjoyed reading The Happier Project and stumbled across her podcast. Anything that can make my days a little happier is worth trying. I have picked up quite a few tips from this podcast including the inspiration behind my first blog post, 18 for 2018. (Related podcast - Happier in Hollywood)

Stuff You Should Know - I like knowing random bits of trivia. This podcast focuses on different topics and takes a deep dive into them.

These are just a few of my favorites. I listen to so many more! It's a great way to build your personal development, the easy way.
